Mark played his first ever game of backgammon in 2010. He has since taken lessons from Phil Simborg, Stick (Jacob Rice) and David Presser and has reached the latter stages of several of the major calendar events - semi final in Blackpool 2017, losing narrowly in the Final of the Super Jackpot at the UK Open 2017, winner of the Fylde Cup in Blackpool 2018, Semi Finalist Gibraltar Open Intermediate 2018, won the Consolation event in Hessen Cup 2019 (Frankfurt) and has won some smaller events in Germany and Spain. He founded the Inaugural Spain v Gibraltar Cup in 2017 and plays the majority of his over the board backgammon with friends (the Panera Pirates) in Spain and in the excellent and vibrant Gibraltar backgammon community.
